Thanks for visiting my blog dedicated to moving images of all sorts. Haunted Screens is a place for me to store notes and thoughts about moving images that fall outside the subject of my doctoral dissertation in film and dance studies.

BOOKS
Ju-on: The Grudge (in English, published by Auteur, 2017, UK): My monograph in the Devil's Advocates series that covers Takeshi Shimizu's J-horror film. This book provides an in-depth analysis of the film, exploring links to traditional Japanese performing arts, butoh dance, contagion/disasters, Japan's "lost generation", Japanese film horror history, cats, bakeneko films, as well as other films in the franchise (television episodes, sequels in the franchise, American remake, etc.). My book is sold through most major online book distributors (including the various Amazon sites around the world.) and is distributed in the US through Columbia University Press:
